Poppin up in a Pop-up in a Pop-up

I’m excited to announce my Pheasant Feather Bow Tie will be part of another Bold Italic Pop up Shop, this time in downtown Oakland at the adorable boutique Marion & Rose’s Workshop!  Marion & Rose is part of the ‘New’ Old Oakland and Popup Hood movement that is working to revitalize small business and encourage growth in the 9th and Broadway neighborhood.  I love how much this organization has taken off since starting just last September with 8 new retail concepts in 6 storefronts and look forward to watching them grow!

The Bold Italic’s Pop-Up kickoff party will be Friday December 7th, 6-9pm coinciding with First Fridays art walk and will have good drinks and good vibes!  Be sure to stop by and see lots of lovely items from bay area designers from handmade leather bags to prints, letterpress stationary and jewelry.

Find out more about hosts Marion & Rose at their site and below..!

“Marion & Rose features a well-edited collection of objects, clothing, and uncommon home and personal accessories. Owner Kerri Lee Johnson, an artist and arts administrator, seeks out high-quality, well-crafted items made by innovative designers, artisans, and crafters from all over.

Stepping into the shop is like stepping into a classic Oakland home: warm, comfortable, and friendly, a blend of fine traditional details and modern, contemporary living.”

Hmmm that Bart ride is looking easier and easier.. and I’m putting those seed bombs on my Xmas list! Can’t wait for spring, there are definitely some spots I’m going to bomb in my neighborhood lol

Pop-up Shop happenings!

Let’s get right to it- last weekend was amazing- and I’m not just talking about the Giants sweeping the World Series (!!!).  Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the pop-up shop, including our awesome vendors- who I finally get to talk a bit about now!  It was great to see so many neighbors enjoying the pop-up shop, imbibing Jillian’s amazing Halloween cocktails, and supporting local artists.  I’m sure these ladies will be back at The Sunshine Factory soon so you’ll get to come out and meet them in the next round!

First up is the lovely Petra Royale of The Second Rvivl and OKBOMB!  I have been a long time admirer of her refurbished vintage furniture and have found myself trolling the archives of her blog searching for more and more pieces many a night!  Perfect hues paired with beautiful printed deadstock fabrics, these charming restored and re-upholstered pieces will quickly become your favorite thing you own.  She also sells superbly bohemian and not too shoulder-paddy 80′s and 90′s clothing which was a big hit- come on, it’s San Francisco, who doesn’t love a good vintage leather jacket??  Head over to Petra’s blog, Etsy, and Facebook for more drool-worthy pieces!

I’d also like to introduce you to Cara of Saboteur SF, who was at the event serving up delicious coffee and her stitched reusable coffee cozies for paper cups and jars!  I met Cara a few years ago at Vega near our old apartment and instantly developed bang-envy as she effortlessly slang soy lattes and poker-face’d SOMA yuppies and crazies.  When I was thinking of talented ladies to partake in the pop-up shop, Cara’s cozies came to mind and were a perfect fit for the event!
Her cozies come in a wide variety of colors and patterns and liven up any cup, protecting your palms from that scalding hot americano.
My favorites include the (so freaking adorable) apple print and the bicycles! ::dying::

The display at the pop-up.. also now selling Cuppows and Mason jars too

Artist/mama extraordinaire Becca of Little Otto Shop was also poppin up at the event, with lil Otto in tow!  Becca graces the pages of Etsy with her fabulous stone rings and fine art silkscreen prints- start savin, they are BOMB.  Who doesn’t like a good skeleton pony print??  Am I right or am I right.  Her handmade journals were also a hit, great for stashing those petals and cute flowers you pick up while walking around town..

Jillian of Joules Jewels Vintage was also poppin up, with tons of affordable incredible vintage for fall including handmade costumes, shoes, purses, coats, and furs!  She also whipped up delicious cocktails on Sunday- keep an eye out on her site for the recipes in an upcoming post..!
There were also goods from local vendors for sale including:
Bath Products by Etta + Billie
Letterpress Greeting cards by Nibby Press
Collected works by Nidhi Chanani
Whimsical Bird Prints on Wood by Maggie Hurley
I’d love to do another event next month before the holidays and will keep everyone updated on the next dates!  Thanks again to everyone who made this event successful- you’re awesome!  Xo

Announcing The Sunshine Factory Pop-up Shop!

I’m so excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a pop-up shop of curated goodies and local vendors on October 27th and 28th at our ground floor live/work space on Precita and York!  It’s amazing that we can do things like this in our space and throwing a pop-up shop is something I’ve wanted to do since we moved in!  Six months later, here it is.  I am teaming up with Jillian from Joules Jewels Vintage and a group of local friends (soon to be announced) to host a weekend of shopping in our lovely stretch of ‘Precita Valley’ ‘Bernal Flats’ or whatever you want to call it!

First I’d like to introduce you to the space.. lovingly nicknamed The Sunshine Factory, our little slice of heaven has had a lot of past lives (including a sign shop in the movie Bullitt!).  Now our home and our workspace, it has undergone lots of changes and is on a path to awesomeness. Here’s a few photos from along the way..
The very beginning!

A few Instagram photos from around the house..

everything looks better with a coat of turquoise <3

In the next few weeks leading up to the shop I’m going to be posting photos and details about our featured vendors and more shots of the space as it becomes an autumn wonderland!

There will be tons of vintage clothing, housewares and furniture, local and organic bath products, as well as original art and designs by local SF makers!  I’ll of course be there too with my feather bow ties, jewelry, art, and vintage succulent planters for sale.

When we first moved in, our corner was a dump..  literally.  I don’t know if we missed the memo but the corner was a magnet for abandoned furniture, explosions of discarded clothing, drug paraphernalia, and other unmentionables.  After some serious cleaning, painting, and planting, I finally feel like we’re making progress!  I started many of my plants from seed and can’t wait for my little garden to grow up.  I’m totally jealous of all the huge and beautiful front yards around the neighborhood and can’t wait to see what my vines look like in a few years!

More photos and vendor details to come.. stay tuned!

Also check out the event listing on Facebook and be sure to invite your friends! Xo

OH styles for the new Jenn Grant album!

Last week the lovely Jenn Grant‘s new album The Beautiful Wild came out and you may notice some Our House earrings gracing the cover!  If you don’t know Jenn, she’s a superbabe songwriter from far away Canada-land and a spectacular human all around.  I’m thrilled to have been a part of this project, styling and make-up-ing Jenn was so much fun, I wish I could do it everyday.  Mat also shot the photos which turned out gorgeous.  It was really an amazing time visiting with Jenn and her hubs Dan Ledwell here in San Francisco and we got to have some fun double dates, ride the streetcar, and raid the Anthropologie sale room hehe.  Hearing Jenn sing Eye of the Tiger at the Independent was pretty awesome too <3

Check out her new album here!  Get more info about Jenn and the album at her site JennGrant.com
